Kissing Kali

Kali is the Dark Goddess, Mother of Time. She is awesome in appearance, wearing the skulls of her devotees and protruding her tongue in anticipation of their blood. She is often shown astride her most devoted worshiper, Lord Siva. Her principal place of worship is said to be in the cremation grounds of southern India, particularly in Bengal. So who is this wrathful, crazy woman? Is she a Demoness or a Goddess? What does her imagery really mean? Kali is, in essence, the ultimate reality. She represents reality in all it's unmoderated truth. Harsh reality. The universe that devours us all, the dark unknown, the suffering, the decay and inevitable death that awaits us. There is a mystery in this Great Dark Mother, the Mystery of Realization. Kissing Kali is the name of an underground publication whose premiere issue was launched on the Spring Equinox of 2000. The basic theme of the publication is to examine life in all it's varying multiplicity and through the eyes of many different types of people. Some of the ideas expressed in Kissing Kali are not very popular ones, others are commonly accepted by most people. Kissing Kali is dedicated to bringing its readers quality articles on mystical, political, scientific, philosophical, and magical subjects. Kissing Kali is not limited to being associated with any one particular organization or agenda. The material contained herein is the sole property of its authors, who come from various backgrounds and schools of thought. This multiplicity oftentimes creates contradictory ideas. This is not to be shunned, but rather encouraged. It is my hope that the variety of material presented in this publication will provoke people to think for themselves, and not remain engrasped within the iron hands of tyrants who seek to control them.
